I’m still alive and I didn’t break any bones
We have had a great copuple of days. It started on thursday with a 6 hour bus ride on which we had a few beers. When we got to the cabins we had some more beer and sandwiches before we called it a night.
The cabins were great. We had two of them, each built for 24 persons. Since we were only 28 that acctually made it to Sälen there was a lot of extra space. We had two kitchens and two saunas in each cabin and pretty much all the latest technology you could imagene except for computers.
We got up early on friday morning, we had a big day ahead of us. We hit the slopes at around 9 am and was out until 2pm. At 3pm we met up again in the cabins and made our ay to the Scooter Safari. With two men on every scooter we started towards the Ice Carts.
It was my first time on a scooter and it was more fun that expected. And more work too. We maxed at about 70km/h and got close to tipping over on several occasions but the best part was yet to come; after about one hour on the scooters we finally made it to the Ice Carts.
Ice Cart is just like go cart only you drive on ice which means that you will slide through the corners. This was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done in my life. We starteed out with a few practice runs before the competition began. There were three qualifying heats per person in which you gathered points. I didn’t do that well during the quelifiers though.
First race gave me a fourth place after being pushed out in the first corner. The second race was a catasrophy for me. Not only did I get a really bad start but I also spun around not only once but twice leaving me battling for 9th place in the final corner. I lost the battle and ended up 10th and last. The last qualifier went very much like the first race. I had a really bad start but worked my way up from 9th to 5th place after pushing the cart to the max.
After these three heats I thought my racing days were over but I got a second chance. 16 players qualified to an extra heat where the 1st and 2nd in each heat (there were two heats) would go to the final. I got an excellent start in my heat and during the first lap I did everything right. After the first löap my lead was almost 1/5 of the course so I decided to take it easy not to risk anything. My lead held up all to the way to the finish line and I was in the final!
We were 8 combantants in the final round. I had a decent start and came out from the first curve in 2nd place but from there it was all downhill for me. I didn’t drive poorly but my cart didn’t get up the necessary speed so I couldn’t do much as the others went past me one by one. I finally came in on 5th place and I nust say that I was still satisfied with my results considering I have never driven a car or a go cart before.
After the Ice cart we got back on the scooters and drove up in the mountains where we had “Fjälltapas” for dinner. Then it was back to the cabins on a scooter sled for more beer, party and poker all night long.
On saturday a bunch of us stayed in pretty much all day and at 7pm pizza was delivered to the door. We played a poker freerool in the evening, I ended in 7th place after about 1½ hour, the blind levels where very steep so it was more about moving in than sitting patient waiting for cards. When all beer was out around midnight we went to a nightclub and that concluded the weekend. The next morning we got up and jumped on the bus home again.

I’ve been at work now for two days and I’ve acctually been doing something useful with my time. It feels good
My entire department (almost, 31 out of 40) are going to Sälen today over the weekend for some skiing, Ice Go Cart and Scooter rides. I think it’ll be a lot of fun and I promise to report back when I get home again next week

After a half day session about design patterns I must say I haven’t really learned that much new but it’s still very intresting. If nothing else just because you realize that, ‘Hey I already do that without knowing it’.
In 1½ hour I’ll be on the train to the west coast to spend a relaxing weekend with my father and sister. I really hope that the weather will be fine, it has been raining a lot down there or close to there.

*Phew* Im just done with a full day session of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), ESB(Enterprise Service Bus) and JMS (Java Messaging System). It was tough but interesting
We’re gonna have a second session tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it.
Time for me to get my ass home and relax in my sofa for the rest of the evening. Hopefully my newly ordered DVD, Zach Braffs new film The Last Kiss, has arrived

It’s been 2½ months since the last time I wrote here and evidentally, Holger won’t give up. I know I promised, or at least promised to try, to write twice every week. I think that lasted for about half a week. I’m going to make a new attempt and I think I have ome up with a plan that just might succeed, we’ll see. Anyway, since Holger seems to be the only one reading my blog, which might have something to do with the fact that it was 2½ months ago I wrote, this one is for you baby
I have to recuperate the past few months and I’ll probably wander back and forth in time but I hope that’s alright.
Just last week I was officially made Technical Project Manager at work. I have been working as one for the past few months but now it’s for real. It feels really good and they seemed very pleased with my work so far so I have nothing but good expectations for the future workwise. Apart from the promotion work is pretty much the same. It’s fun, social, exiting and runs forward at a very high pace at all times. Not much time to stop for a breather but that’s the way I like it.
At the moment I am trying to convince one of my very vest friends (you know who you are) to come work with us but he’s not easy to persuade. Hopefully he’ll come to his senses and realize what great fun it would be to have me as his team leader and, of course, drink beer every other Friday as we do at the office (on the house)
I spent midsummer with my friends and their friends and their friends etc. We ended up being a company of roughly 40 people in a house that could muster about 20. Great fun, a lot to drink, good food and a few hours spent in the sauna. We did have some bad luck with the weather but that’s no different from how it usually is. The only thing I missed at the party was Holger and Kerstin but hopefully we will arrange for them to come here some other time.
Me and my girlfriend have been talking about moving in together recently. It’s pretty much decided that we will do it but not when. I am looking for a bigger place and will move as soon as I find one I like and she’ll be free to move in whenever she wants to. I’m really looking forward to it and it seems I have shocked quite a few people with this
I went to Sweden Rock with a bunch of friend in June. Not much to say about it really except for that it’s a rock festival in Sweden (hence the name) and that we had a great time listening to good music and drinking beer. The only exceptional thing that happened there was that I saw Aerosmith live for the first time in my life. This might not seem like such a big deal but I’ve been listening to them since I was 6 years old so it was a big happening for me.
Me and my sister have finally bought tickets for Australia. We meant to go last year but we both got new jobs and I found an apartment and so so there really was no time. This time it’s for real. We have paid for the tickets and the flight leaves winterly Stockholm the 18th of December and lands in summery Sydney on the 19th. For 5 weeks we are going to backpack our way from Sydney to Cairns where we will hopefully do some diving before going back home again. We haven’t planned the trip yet apart from what I just wrote but I’ll keep you posted.
My Wii has been running hot lately. I have a bunch of fun games and I must say that just hanging out, drinking beer and having a few laughs with my friends playing Wii is a really nice way to spend a weekend, last Saturday we played for 19 hours straight
Wii rocks!
I think that’s all for now. I’ve probably forgot about half of all the fun stuff I’ve been up to the past months but that’s what happens when you try to remember it all at once. I am really going to try and update more often but don’t expect too much.
Oh, in case I don’t write, I’m going to my father summer house this weekend with my sister and I’m going to my mothers summer house with my girlfriend two weeks after that

… from Gotemburg after three days of seminars.
I will post some more about this during the weekend when I’ve had a chance to collect my thoughts and process all the impressions.

My first project, the one I already finished, was released today. Everything worked smoothly as expected and it felt good be able to sign it off.
My next project was approved today and it’ll start on Thursday. I won’t do much work on it since the developer assigned to it will handle pretty much everything. My part of is just to tie things together and make sure that he (the developer) doesn’t run into unexpected trouble. Guess that’s what management is all about

I almost forgot, we moved to a new office location last weekend. The new office is completely new, in fact it is so new that only our four floors are done, the ones below us are still a mess but our floors are sooooo nice
