I’ve uploaded the photos from my trip to Orlando.
There aren’t that many but I’ve divided them into two separate albums and they can be found under USA/Kissimee & USA/Epcot Center.
About the trip all I can say is it was wonderful. The weather was great and we did spend a few enjoyable days off before the conference started.
The trip to Disneys Epcot Center was an experience. We tried a few of the attractions where Mission: Space was the most fun. The World Showcase was very impressive. They’ve built up a block or two of different countries and have restaurants, bars and a few exhibitions of each country. IT almost felt like being back in Vegas again.
Down town Orlando wasn’t much to see. For some reason I was expecting more from Orlando but after seeing it I don’t think I’ll be going back there again. We lived just outside of Orlando in a town called Kissimmee. We stayed at an inn, a typical American establishment. It wasn’t luxurious but it had everything we needed. The breakfast was very American and barely eatable: Coffee, Orange Juice and donuts. Need I say I only tried it once?
The conference was better. I didn’t really know what to expect from it other than that I’d hopefully have a few ideas about how we can improve the way we work. I got all that with me and then some. It was a very interesting couple of days and I got to meet and see some of the most respected Scrum people in the business. I must say that it is very inspiring to hear Jim Coplien, Mike Cohn, Ken Schwaber and more talk about there experiences and views on the world of Scrum.

The conference has started so I finally have an internet connection.
I’ve been here in Orlando for about 4 days and I must say I’m really enjoying myself. It’s partly cloudy and with about 30C that’s perfect. The pool is warm and the food is just as unhealthy and good as I remembered it.
We haven’t spent all our time by the pool, we’ve been to Epcot Center at Disney World and took a trip to down town Orlando the other day. Right now I’m standing in the conference lobby after a great lunch.
It’s all work and no play from now on with the conference ending just a few hours before the plane leaves for home again. I’ll write more about Epcot, Orlando & the conference when I have a bit of spare time on my hands, you’ll have to wait until I get home for pictures though
I sincerely hope you are not suffering too much from the cold back home.

I’m going to Orlando in March! Woho!
The Scrum Alliance is hosting a conference in Orlando. I am going there with a colleague to, hopefully, learn a bit more about scrum and get some inspiration that we can bring back to the office.
Now, when you get a paid trip to the US you can’t just go to the conference and head back home, that would be stupid. We will land in Orlando three days ahead of the conference and go to Disney World and The Kennedy Space Centre. Happy Days!
Before all this I have a huge release on work which will most likely exhaust me completely so I’m really looking forward to this trip as a chance to get away from the office for just a few days to recharge.

I’ve uploaded about 150 photos from our trip to Dublin in October.
I’ve also taken the liberty to tweak the gallery a tad so it works a bit better now
To the Dublin album

I’ve been on my own for three months. Well, not really alone, I’ve had friends here more times than I could possibly count but my dear partner Elin has been away. Tomorrow she’ll come home again.
I have a lot to prepare for her home coming. Cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking. All household work really, making sure that she feels welcome home.
I’ll admit that it’s been kind of nice being home alone, able to do whatever I want whenever i want to, but I’m really looking forward to seeing her again.

I found an application yesterday for Mac that was supposed to enable VLC to play rar:ed files. (vlcrarloader.
This didn’t work at all. When I tried it VLC crashed. So much for that…
Now, since I really wanted to watch the film I had and I really wanted to find a solution which would enable me to play it in VLC i goggled around a bit without luck. Then I thought to myself, why is the file rar:ed in the first place? I do realise that there is an upside to rar:ing it but once it’s safely on my computer it shouldn’t matter unless it explodes size wise when unpacked.
I decided to unpack and give it a try. I’d read on several forums that unpacking large files would take forever. It took me about 30 seconds to unrar 1.5GB, thank you XPS
The file size once unpacked was identical to the original one (actually it was a tad smaller because I removed a couple of extra files that wasn’t needed) and I was left with a neat .mkv just waiting for VLC to play it.
By spending 30 seconds unraring the file my problem was solved. KIS!

I think I am finally done with the media centre setup. It’s taken a bit more than 2 years but now I have every component setup just the way I want to. And here it is:
First of all I have the TV. It’s a 46″ Full HD screen from Samsung.
It’s a very nice piece of work I must say. I have an HD-box connected to the tv but that’s not very interesting since this piece of equipment depends on the tv deal I have.
What is more interesting is the Mac Mini. The Mini is, of course, connected to the TV. It is also connected to my LAN on which I have a MyBook World Edition 2. On it I have all my music, movies and tv-series. The Mini streams all media from the MyBook.
I’ve even managed to setup iTunes so that it’ll always find the music on the MyBook after rebooting either of the systems. Very neat indeed.
The MyBook has shell access, FTP and a browser interface if ever needed. It is really a very slimmed web server/nas and it can be used for more than just storage. I have a web interface from which I can stream my music from anywhere for example.
The Mac Mini is also my designated DVD-player.
There is a 300mbps WLAN in the apartment which is capable of streaming HD and can handle band width-heavy games without breaking a sweat.
Finally, every piece of equipment that can emit sound (ie play music, movies etc.) is connected to my Denon Receiver. I don’t have a surround system, I don’t have the need for one, but I do have two very nice front speakers that are more than enough when watching TV or having a late night party.
Add to this some peripheral equipement such as my laptop , XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii and you could say that I’m a very happy camper.
I do see myself making adjustments to my current setup within a not too distant future. I already feel that the 1TB MyBook won’t be enough so I’ll probably exchange it for something a bit more scalable but there’s no rush really.
I almost forgot… Software.
As previously mentioned I run iTunes on the Mini to play music.
For video VLC is the stuff. I’ve tried Plex but it never worked quite like I wanted it too and albeit nice to look at it didn’t really give me any additional value that VLC didn’t apart from the ability to play rar-films but I’ll find a way do that with VLC.

On September 22nd Ongame Network, one of the worlds largest online poker networks, announced that they will showcase their new Poker Platform Engine called P5.
“We decided to go to the very heart of our platform and rethink every line of code – and re-write it if necessary. P5 represents a shift in mentality as much as it represents a shift in technology. We are already very excited about what P5 enables us to – but this is nothing compared to what you will see in the months to come.” says Kevin O’Neal, Press Officer at bwin.
