Crime Scene Investigation
I love CSI, the original series played out in Las Vegas that is. I especially like the first couple of seasons before everything started to get predictable.
What I don’t like is how CSI NY is ruining the concept of the series. I realize that CSI LV doesn’t really tell the truth about crime scene investigating. It’s not as easy as they portrait it to be and not as quick and from what I understand not even that realistic. But at least they investigate.
In CSI NY on the other hand, investigation is basically about finding a cigarette butt and then assuming that it’s the lead that will crack the case. Of course it turns out to be just that even though a cigarette butt on a NY street would more than once prove to be nothing but a just a plain old cigarette butt. I could accept these assumptions if they were at least somewhat logical and made sense but most of the time they don’t.
“We have rope on this chair and a dead guy. Aha! Someone was kidnapped, killed her attacker and escaped! Let’s base our entire investigation on the nonsense I just blurred out without having the least bit of evidence to support this crazy theory I just made up out of thin air.”
I’m really not that convinced that this is how you actually condone an investigation in real life. The only reason I watch the crap is because I happen to like Gary Sinise so let’s hope the writers kill him off and he moves on to bigger and better things some time soon before I vandalize my tv out of frustration.
