Programming

A new category is born.

Under this category I’m planning  on putting up simple tutorials, complain about poor docuemntation, paste nifty solutions and references etc. First out will be a Hessian guide which I hope will be done by the end of this week. Keep your eyes open ;)

Hat-diggedi!

Summer Murphy

I was away over the weekend and as usual the weather was really bad. It didn’t rain that much but it was cold. Now it’s monday again and the sun is shining. There’s not a cloud on the sky…

Yesterday evening, on my way home from the train station, it was rainigauite a lot. My 10 minute walk from the subway to my apartment left me completly wet into my bare skin. I belive the technincal term for that is “Hat-diggedi!” (Abe Simpsons catch phrase). Hmm, I think I’m going to end all my blogs with that phrase :)

Hat-diggedi!

Crime Scene Investigation

I love CSI, the original series played out in Las Vegas that is. I especially like the first couple of seasons before everything started to get predictable.

What I don’t like is how CSI NY is ruining the concept of the series. I realize that CSI LV doesn’t really tell the truth about crime scene investigating. It’s not as easy as they portrait it to be and not as quick and from what I understand not even that realistic. But at least they investigate.

In CSI NY on the other hand, investigation is basically about finding a cigarette butt and then assuming that it’s the lead that will crack the case. Of course it turns out to be just that even though a cigarette butt on a NY street would more than once prove to be nothing but a just a plain old cigarette butt. I could accept these assumptions if they were at least somewhat logical and made sense but most of the time they don’t.

“We have rope on this chair and a dead guy. Aha! Someone was kidnapped, killed her attacker and escaped! Let’s base our entire investigation on the nonsense I just blurred out without having the least bit of evidence to support this crazy theory I just made up out of thin air.”

I’m really not that convinced that this is how you actually condone an investigation in real life. The only reason I watch the crap is because I happen to like Gary Sinise so let’s hope the writers kill him off and he moves on to bigger and better things some time soon before I vandalize my tv out of frustration.

Insomnia

Well, it’s not really insomnia but I really hate that feeling when you go to bed, turn off the lights, close your eyes and wait. You wait and you wait and you wait until one hour later, you realize that you just can’t sleep and it’s most likely going to take several hours before you even get tired.

I usually try to read when this happens to me but tonight, after reading Café Magazine from cover to cover without luck I decided to whine a bit about it  here on my blog instead. There you go, all done…

Weekend

The weekend is almost over and a new work week awaits.

Had some fun during the weekend. Spent Friday evening at Eriks job drinking beer and playing Wii. Yesterday we all went to my mothers house and drank more beer and partied. I’m currently waitingfor the clock to strike 6 so I can do my laundry and once done I’ll go to Elin who is coming back from a weeks absence.

Workout

So finally I’ve amassed the energy needed to get to the gym.
2 times in two days now and it feels very good. I’m currently aiming at three times a week.

I believe I have found the ultimate workout program for the short one hour lunch sessions I do:

25 minutes on the bike at a high level working up a good sweat. This usually takes me a bit over 10 km but in the long run I want to improve the traveled distance and resistance level.
After this I do a short but intense upper body program:
8 x 3 biceps combined with max x 3 sit ups (I actually cramped my abs today) and max x 1 push ups (no breathers between exercises) and then I’m done.
I’ll be doing this for two months now before I add some additional exercises targeting my chest and back.

Australia 2007/12 here I come :p

/cry

No apartment for me this time. I came in second, missed it with 5 months :( I’ll just have to keep on looking, sooner or later I’ll find one.

On  the bright side I watched the Last Kiss  two days ago. it’s Zach Braffs (JD in scrubs) new movie and it’s about mid-life crisis, infidelity having children etc. It was a really good movie which I warmly recommend, especially if you liked Garden State.

The soundtrack to The Last Kiss is probably the best soundtrack I have ever heard. Zach has put it together and called it a sequel to the Garden State soundtrack. The are very similar but if Garden State was good this one is perfect :)

Apartment Continued

I accepted th apartment last night. Now all I can do is wait to see if I’ll get a chance to sign or not.

Meanwhile, I have registered for two other apartments if I don’t get the first one :)

Proof reading…

…is a good thing. That way I won’t have to edit my posts 3 times after publishing them…

Apartment

I looked at an apartment yesterday. 3 rooms, large balcony and kitchen. It’s just south of stockholm, although still within a comfortable distance (roughly 20 minutes with the subway). Hopefully I will be able to a) convince Elin to agree to move in there without seeing it first and despite the few minor issues she has with it, and b) to acctually be first in line to sign the damn contract :)
